West Side Market
Grab your cutest market-going attire and make a B-line for the West Side Market, otherwise known as a foodies paradise. Alive with people (who are hyped up on a great cup of coffee from City Roast Coffee) you will find history, family, community and over 100 reasons to start your diet after you return home. Meat, spices, nuts, fruits and vegetables, seafood, cheese, baked goods, and specialty delights fill the booths around every corner. If you strike up a conversation with the artisans they will tell you the sweetest tails of their family members who opened their shop as early as 1912. You can actually see the dates which they opened posted proudly above each booth adding to its charm. After you eat a weeks worth of calories in one meal (no regrets) I recommend strapping on your walking shoes and get moving! Walking through downtown Cleveland, I was blown away by the unbelievable architecture. The buildings and bridges fill the skyline, and after browsing through the local boutiques, we found ourselves drawn towards the Cuyahoga River. If you feel so inclined, rent paddle boards and kayaks and spend your afternoon paddling along, but don't get too burnt out! As the early evening rolls around I highly recommend booking a ride on the GOODTIME III, or the BrewBoat depending on the atmosphere that interests you. I wrapped up my evening in one of my favorite ways, a baseball game at Progressive Field, which, like all of Cleveland is beautifully constructed and makes for a good ol' time. DoubleTree Lakeside
My short stay in Cleveland was all I could have hoped and then some, but after a long day I was thrilled to return to my room at the DoubleTree Lakeside with a view of Lake Erie and warm cookies.
Because my experience was limited to a 30 hour layover, unfortunately I couldn't experience everything this city had to offer. I would love to know what you love about this city and where I should go on my next visit! Thanks for checking in, I x I
